TERMS
THE BORING BUT IMPORTANT PART!
Essential reading!
GOT2DRIVE's terms and conditions are there for the benefit and protection of both the instructor and the learner. Before you commit to using any G2D service, it's important that you are aware of the terms and conditions to be followed.
Your instructor
-
A Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency licensed badge will be displayed in the windscreen to show your instructor is a qualified professional.
-
The on going high-standard of service delivered by your instructor will be maintained via compulsory standards checks carried out by the DVSA as and when requested by the body themselves.
-
The vehicle in which you learn in will be fully maintained, insured and be equipped with dual control pedals (clutch and brake) for your safety.
-
Your instructor, through their training and experience, will provide the most suited coaching style for your needs. There will always be something for you to learn from during a lesson but this will be addressed in a calm and collected manner. Shouting and aggressive reactions are not even considered in the nature of G2D.
Lesson times & locations
If you are unable to be on time for your lesson, you will need to let your instructor know ASAP. If you do not show within 10 minutes of your instructor arriving, they will leave, resulting in you losing the fee for that lesson.
If you decide you would like to change the usual start and/or end location of the lesson for any reason, give your instructor as much notice as possible so they can try to be accommodating. This will need to be within a 5 minute drive of the usual location. If this cannot be achieved you may still be able to use the destination of your choice but the extra travelling will be driven during your lesson time to enable the instructor to keep correct timings with other clients. The same lesson fee will still apply.
If your instructor needs to cancel the lesson for any given reason, they will give you as much notice as possible and you will not be charged for the lesson. In these unlikely events we will not be held accountable for any other costs to you.
-
If your instructor is late for any given reason (including the traffic which is sometimes unpredictable), they will try to let you know via text. We will make up for any lost time by extending the finish time if mutually convenient or we will add it on to another lesson at a later date.
Payments and cancellations
By joining G2D as a customer, you are committing to weekly lessons (unless agreed otherwise) – if you are paying for each lesson individually, please ensure you have the required funds to do so before agreeing to weekly lessons.
Spaces are not held for learners needing to take a break from driving. This is the instructor's livelihood and their income must remain consistent from one week to the next. If lesson bookings are not made or committed to at any point during your learning journey, your slot with G2D will be assigned to the next customer on our waiting list and you will move to the back of the queue.
NEW CUSTOMERS: When booking your first driving lesson with G2D, a non-refundable deposit will be required at the point of booking. This amount will be the cost of the first lesson. It is important to note that no booking is confirmed until the deposit has been paid. Once offered a lesson slot, you will have 24hrs from the time of the offer to accept. Beyond this point, we will offer the lesson to the next customer.
Sessions must be paid for in full via bank transfer no later than 48 hours in advance of the lesson time.
If you need to cancel a lesson, it would be appreciated for you to give us as much notice as possible. This will sometimes help us, where possible, to arrange an alternative lesson slot for you so you don't miss out for the week. If you give less than 48 hours’ notice, you will be charged in full for that lesson, regardless of reason. Please note this includes coronavirus.
If a lesson is cancelled two times or more within any 2 month period, regardless of it being chargeable or not, G2D may remove your lesson slot to provide it to someone more reliable.
For semi or intensive course bookings, 50% of the total price is required before the booking can be confirmed. The remaining 50% is due no later than 2 weeks prior to the first lesson for that course.
If a semi or intensive course is cancelled with more than 4 weeks until the start date, the money paid will be refunded minus a £50 cancellation fee.
If a semi or intensive course is cancelled with less than 2 weeks notice, 50% of the total course fee will not be refunded.
If a semi or intensive course is cancelled after the course has begun, any lessons within 2 weeks of the notice of cancellation will not be refunded.
Practical driving test
With your permission, G2D will book your practical driving test on your behalf. The driving test fee (£62 weekdays, £75 Saturdays, set by the DVSA) will be transferred by you to G2D and we will book the agreed time and date.
With the national average waiting time for driving tests still above the target of 9 weeks, it is likely we will arrange between us, to book your test in advance of you actually being 'test ready'. This will be estimated and based on your instructor's previous experience. It will also rely on you continuing with your weekly (or whatever interval has been agreed to) driving lessons. If the rate at which you have shown to be progressing changes, it may be suggested that your test date is adjusted, to either an earlier or later date.
If your driving does not meet the expected standard of an independent driver as your driving test date looms, your instructor will advise you that we need to move the test date. If you choose not to follow our professional advice, we will not allow you the use of our cars on your test if the standard is not met. Your instructor will be conducting mock tests with you prior to any test and will be looking for you to be of a ‘pass’ standard, accumulating at least 3 mock test passes before the money-back cancellation period of your driving test booking.
There is more on the DVSA website with respect to whether the time is right for you to take your driving test. Have a look at their “Ready to Pass” to campaign page.
Conduct
Your instructor will always act in an appropriate manner while in the car and will respect your personal space as much as possible, except for in an emergency situation where they may need to assist you by reaching across the steering wheel, for example.
You will not attend any session if you are at risk of being affected by any alcohol or drugs, prescription or otherwise. If your instructor suspects you are under the influence of these, even if this is from the previous day, they will terminate the lesson at whatever stage it is at and the lesson will be charged in full.
You will also be expected to act in an appropriate manner. Any discussion being had between you and your instructor will be carried out politely, without means of aggression or confrontation. All help and support provided by your instructor will always be pleasant and is never a criticism. Respect is required 100% of the time and if your instructor feels uncomfortable with your tone or manner, the lesson and/or future lessons may be cancelled.
Health and wellbeing
If you take or start taking any medication which may affect your driving, you need to let your instructor know. If you start feeling ill before or during any lesson or your ability to concentrate for any reason is compromised, you must let your instructor know. Together we can then decide to change to another activity, or abandon the session. Everybody's safety is paramount.
It is your responsibility to alert your instructor of any health issues you have which may affect your driving, or the way you wish to be taught, prior to lessons commencing.
You need to be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away, and if you wear glasses or contact lenses you need to ensure you have them for your lesson.
